While returning home one evening in Denpasar, Bali, Rico Soegiarto discovered a severely malnourished dog lying on the roadside. The animal was in poor condition, with significant hair loss and visible wounds that made it difficult to identify her breed as a Siberian Husky.

Despite her challenging state, something about her distinctive blue eyes caught Rico’s attention. He recognized that beneath her current condition was a dog in need of care and decided to help her.
Rico, who already cared for four rescued dogs, understood the commitment required for animal rehabilitation. He brought the dog home and named her Hope.

Hope’s recovery required dedicated care over many months. Rico provided regular medicated treatments, nutritious meals to help her regain strength, and a safe environment where she could heal properly.

Gradually, her fur began to grow back, her wounds healed, and she started to show signs of improved health and confidence. The rehabilitation process took approximately one year, during which Hope transformed from a severely undernourished animal into a healthy, vibrant Husky with a full coat and bright demeanor.

Rico made the decision to permanently adopt Hope into his family. Today, Hope lives comfortably in Bali with Rico and his other dogs, enjoying daily walks, playtime, and the consistent care she needs.

Hope’s story demonstrates the positive impact that compassionate animal rescue can have, showing how proper care and dedication can help animals recover from difficult circumstances.

Bali has several animal welfare organizations working to help stray and abandoned animals. If you’re interested in supporting animal rescue efforts, consider:
- Volunteering with local animal shelters
- Supporting spay and neuter programs
- Donating to established animal welfare organizations
- Adopting from shelters rather than purchasing from breeders
Proper nutrition, regular veterinary care, and a safe environment are essential for animal recovery. Always consult with veterinary professionals when caring for animals with health issues.
