What started as an ordinary commute to work became a life-saving mission for plumber Carlos Carrillo and his colleague. While driving along a country road in Texas, the Shoreline Plumbing employees noticed something unusual in a roadside ditch.

“We didn’t know he was a dog at first,” Carrillo told The Dodo. “We reversed and saw him.”

The dog had been abandoned in a cruel manner – his mouth was taped shut and he had been restrained with tubing.

The discovery prompted immediate action from the compassionate plumbers, who contacted local animal rescue services.

Despite his traumatic experience, the dog showed remarkable resilience. After being brought to safety, veterinary examination revealed that while he had heartworms (a common but treatable condition), his overall health was surprisingly good. Treatment for the heartworms began immediately.

“His tail won’t stop wagging,” a spokesperson at Peewee’s Pet Adoption told The Dodo. “He’s such a sweetheart.”

The dog’s positive attitude and friendly demeanor have impressed everyone at the rescue facility. His transformation from an abandoned animal to a tail-wagging companion demonstrates the incredible resilience that dogs can show when given proper care and attention.

While the person responsible for abandoning the dog has not been located, the focus has shifted to finding him a loving permanent home. The rescue organization is working to match him with a family that can provide the care and affection he deserves.
